Ye Helmut of Olde
We had our doctor visit today. Gretta officially has the weirdest shaped head I've ever seen. And it appears the Surgeon concurs. So in a week to ten days from today, she will no longer be known as Gretta, but as Helmut. Yes people, she will be wearing a helmet. Hopefully a cute, pink camo helmet. And hopefully it will only take 3 months to correct that weird shaped head. Then she can resume being the worlds cutest baby.

My cousins little boy wore a helmet last year for 6 months and his head was completely corrected. His parents had to fight the insurance to pay for it-- but they did get them to eventually. A lot of people assumed it was for some other reason, so they did a lot of educating at parties and in super market lines! I was educated at one such family party:)We are lucky to live in such a time, when they can do such great things for our kids:)
Why wait to resume the title of world's cutest baby. She will now be the world's cutest baby in a helmet.
And if it does end up being a pink camo one she will be quite a stylin baby at that!
Yeah, I'm a little worried about what people will think when they see her in it. I don't really CARE, but still, I don't want them to assume there's anything wrong with her. I'm sure I'll do plenty of explaining!
And as for the insurance, it looks like they are pretty much stinkers when it comes to paying for it. The helmet itself it $1800, so we'll be paying that, and hoping and praying that if (or when) they cover it, they will reimburse us. Weird, since they would have no problem paying for, say, a $20,000 surgery to fix her skull in 10 years. Go big business!
An $1800 Helmet! Let's hope she doesn't grow out of it before her head is corected.
