    Halloweenies

This was quite the Halloween around these parts. After arriving back home on Friday afternoon from a nice getaway to the city, we scurried around getting things ready for our party that evening. What started out as as small, intimate affair, blossomed into a full on fest. It was great. I think after final count we ended up with a total of 55 people. Just what Halloween should be.

Here's Maggie in her Princess dress. This isn't her costume. This is her daily attire. But at least she got candy for wearing it this time.

And here's Maggie and Gretta. Notice Gretta's costume. It is so cute. You'll never guess what she is. And I mean that because she absolutely would not let me put her costume on her. So she went around in her overalls. But she still looked cute.

And here's a taste of what part of our group looked like. We all tried to Trick or Treat together, but between burning corn bread, and runaway dogs, we ended up split up most of the way. That's okay, because we arrived back home, and had the most fun. White chicken chili, red bean chili, cornbread, and good company. The recipe for awesomeness.

    What was Emma?

Of course Gretta wouldn't let you put her costume on her... Could Maggie and Gretta be any different?

Your girls are so beautiful, even without Gretta's costume.

And yum, corn bread is the best. Maybe I should move to Chicago.

You forgot one! I need a pic of all THREE of them. It looks kinda warm? I was thinking it would be freezing already.

Thanks for having us over, we had so much fun-we love you guys! That chili and cornbread was delish I am going to have to get your recipe for sure. Adam was craving it again Saturday but he had to settle for Bush's canned chili. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a struggling toddler! I had to quickly distract Basil with the phone he always longs to play with!

I had the hardest time getting my son to wear his costume, I had to give him a piece of candy and then tell him he could have more if he wore his costume.

Many children refuse to wear costumes - but usually only on Halloween. The rest of the year they choose their daily clothing as if it was a costume!

It's part of being a little kid - you are not in charge - so you take control wherever and whenever you can!!
